The durable (but fairly lightweight) crown measures 7.5" wide and slightly over 3.5" tall. Its' metal material is slightly pliable, allowing you to gently bend the crown for a better fit.
The fleur-de-lis has long been a symbol of heraldry. We get the phrase from the French language -- it means Flower of the Lily. It symbolizes the three-petaled iris flower, used as the armorial emblem of the kings of France.
Not suprisingly, the fleur-de-lis symbol often finds its way into Mardi Gras decor, jewelry and apparel. Its' royal tradition makes it a perfect fit for the royalty of Mardi Gras. Some also say that it represents the three symbols of Carnival: Power, Faith and Justice, just as the Mardi Gras colors do.
Diamond-cut clear imitatation stones accent the crown. Seven pairs of these stones are set in the metal spiral designs pictured here. This design repeats around the crown, with each of these stone pairs situated between the seven large metal fleur de lis shapes. |
